I am a Clinical Psychologist with experience of working within both the NHS and private practice.
Within therapy, I aim to provide a space that is warm, empathic and safe, as I am mindful it can be difficult to speak openly about our difficulties. As a therapist, I am genuine, straightforward, open-minded, flexible and kind. I take an active and engaged approach, and will provide reflections, ideas and feedback.
I have specialist expertise in working with individuals who have experienced cancer, blood disorders, other physical health difficulties and psychosexual issues, as well as anxiety, depression/low mood, stress/burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and loss.
In sessions we will work collaboratively to develop a more complete understanding of your difficulties and why you may be experiencing them now. Often past experiences inform our present, so we might explore where current thoughts or behaviours are coming from, and what contextual factors are playing a part. I will balance this exploratory work with the practical work that is needed to facilitate important changes. Throughout therapy, we will also focus on your current strengths ,as well as what brings you meaning, purpose and joy.
I use an integrative approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I tailor the therapeutic approach to what you require in your current situation, and also take into account your unique goals and preferences.
I was born and raised in Ireland, where I completed my undergraduate and Masters degrees. I moved to Edinburgh and then London, where I completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London. I am registered with the HCPC.
